Biography- Marina Capella, M.D.

Dr. Marina Capella is a pediatrician working for Intermountain Healthcare's urgent care clinics in Salt Lake City. She has a BS in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, an MD from UC San Diego School of Medicine (Links to an external site.), and a master's degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (Links to an external site.). She completed her medical residency in pediatrics at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (Links to an external site.). Before moving to Utah in 2018, she worked as a general pediatrician at a community health center in San Diego, CA. She and a fellow doctor recently launched The Future Minority Doctor Podcast (Links to an external site.), which aims to empower and inspire under-represented minority high school and college students to become doctors. She is passionate about mentoring students pursuing healthcare careers and helping to address disparities in healthcare.

Biography - Jose Rodriguez, M.D.

At the University of Utah, José E. Rodríguez, MD, FAAFP currently serves as Associate Vice President for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and a professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, as well as serving as the Associate Medical Director at the Redwood Health Center (Links to an external site.). While at the University of Utah (Links to an external site.), Dr. Rodríguez has taken a strong role in advancing the institutional goals for health equity, diversity and inclusion. Within his department, he has served on the diversity committee, as well as various recruitment committees supporting focused recruitment of underrepresented ethnic and racial minority (URM) faculty and residents. He has represented the university presenting at national conferences on his committee work and his research on diversity initiatives.
